MARKET ANALYSIS
The market snapped a nine day rally to close sharply lower. While a correction was anticipated, the sharpness and the extent of the fall will raise doubts over the possibility of an immediate recovery in the market. The rise in oil prices and the weakness in the international markets after the rate hike by the Fed, will dampen sentiment further. In these circumstances, it would be better to wait for a good correction before contemplating on fresh long positions. The underlying strength of the market is pretty good and therefore any big dip would present a buying opportunity.

INDEX MOVEMENTS
The reversal bar formation on the Nifty indicates that the current up trend has come to an end. It is likely to drop initially to the 38.2% retracement level at 3675 followed by 3643. A close above 3774.15 alone can bring back bullishness in the market. The Bank Nifty could come back to the buy trigger level at 4955. A drop to this level may be used to enter long positions. The CNX IT could drop to 4385 before making an attempt to move up. Momentum traders may go short for this level. If it stabilizes at 4385, long positions may be contemplated.

MARKET ANALYSIS

The heavyweights appear to taking turns to keep the index moving forward. First, it was Reliance and then ONGC. We had been advocating a stock specific approach to the market ever since the intraday volatility sparked up. The same strategy could be continued as there is no change in behavior of the market. On the broader front, the volumes that were a concern on Monday, picked up on Tuesday and the market breadth was also quite good. The underlying strength of the market appears strong enough and therefore any dips should be used as an opportunity to go long.

INDEX MOVEMENTS

The Nifty closed marginally above the resistance at 3720. If it sustains above this level, it could move higher to test the projection target at 3745. Profit booking could be anticipated near 3745 as the short-term charts are hovering in overbought zone. On the lower side, the index could find support and stabilize near the 5 DMA currently at 3670.
The Bank Nifty could make an attempt to retest the previous top at 4960. The fate of this attempt could determine the intermediate trend for the index. On the other hand, a close below 4859 could put the bears in control.
The CNX IT is moving in a rangebound manner with support at 4385. Traders may use dips to this level to go long.
